Road Noise Tool

Road Noise Tool

The Road Noise Tool replicates noise emitted from nearby or on-site roads. It is drawn as a polyline and does not create physical geometry. Instead, it informs the optimization algorithm to minimize façade length exposed to high noise levels using ray-tracing.

Configurable Settings:

  • dBA Threshold: The A-weighted decibel limit measured at the outer face of the façade, filtered to match human hearing sensitivity.
  • Traffic Volume (Vehicles/day): The average daily automotive traffic over a yearly cycle.
  • Speed Limit (km/h): The maximum allowed speed on the segment.
  • Hard Surfaces (%): The percentage of acoustically reflective surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) between the road and the façade.

Note: Distance propagation is calculated using a simplified model based on Boverket’s standards.
